For sale is
a figurine of a cavalier with a rose made by Nymphenburg in the beginning of the 20th century. Originally designed by Bustelli in the mid 18th century his partner piece would have been the lady holding a fan. Not a model one comes across often especially the painted version! The gentleman is nicely modeled standing on a neat angular base with just a touch of gold trim to the edges. He has a column by his side with lots of detail to it including a flower to the side and some scroll work with the shield mark to the front. The gentleman is holding the rose in his right hand and a tricorn hat under his left arm. Perfectly painted as is always the case for this maker. The figurine displays perfectly but has had some interesting work done to it. The rose has been superbly restored, there is a chip to the bow in his hair in the back and the underside base has been sprayed over and they added a mark that does not belong there to fool poor unsuspecting buyers. Never seen anything like it. It doesn't make sense since you still have the shield mark in the column but hey that is just me talking. A really nice figurine with some interesting additions. The figurine is 7 inches tall, 3.375 inches wide and 3.875 inches deep. If you really look closely you can still make out some impressed numbers underneath. It should have the model number 196 under it.
Germany Germany 20thC 19thC Rosenkavalier
If you like my goodies have a look at my other auctions for a lot more top maker pieces like KPM , Sevres and so on.
Returns accepted if item is not as described.
More items can be found when you click on my user name.
